4-12-2021....Athena’s (GHO) owlets are still in nest. They are now 5-weeks old and will fledge in about 2-weeks.

4-11-2021....Wimberley, Texas (population 4,000) started a project in 2014 called “Bootifull Wimberley” to enhance tourism. There are 50 boots scattered throughout town.

4-9-2021....Little owlet was yawning yesterday. Shot taken at ground level about 200-feet from nest with a 600mm lens. BTW....I got my 2nd dose yesterday and now fully vaccinated.

4-8-2021.....Athena’s owlets have been eating a lot of rodents and are growing. They are about 4 or 5 weeks old and will remain in nest until end of April.

4-3-2021....Athena and her owlets. They don’t hatch on same day, and I think the one on the left is the oldest by a day or two. First egg hatched on March 5th this year. Athena has raised her babies in same nest for 11 consecutive years. Plant on the left side of image is a SOTOL.

4-2-2021....Yesterday I saw my first hummingbird of the year. While on owl duty at WFC, this black-chinned hummingbird stopped at nearby water feature for a drink.

3-31-2021....This Titmouse found a tasty snack. BTW...he is standing on wall right above Athena’s nest.

3-30-2021....Athena had two owlets this year. They are about 3-weeks old and will remain in nest for another 4-weeks. BTW...Athena lays eggs over a 3 or 4 day period and eggs hatch on different days. One of these owlets is older than the other.

3-26-2021....Yesterday was the first sighting of one of Athena’s owlets. She had two this year. This one is 3-weeks old and just now tall enough to look over edge of planter. He will remain in nest for another 4-weeks.

3-25-2021....Athena is still in the nest with her babies. Babies will be big enough to stand up in a few days. This is the 11th year Athena has raised her babies in this location.
